Unfortunately, they are not able to make these as quickly as the PT cruisers... the markup will go on for a bit longer. So out of the 1500 produced/year, how many of these are allocated for the United States?

NO! This car was meant to cost 60 to 70k no more. The marketing of this car was for an affordable car everyone can enjoy. Its for me the guy that doesn't make 300k a year. V-spec is for the big boys.

Sure, but nothing on the order of 50-90% like dealers are saying for the GT-R! The most I heard any dealer ask in the Bay Area at launch was 6k over MSRP, and it did sell at that markup - but a friend got one for 2k over MSRP only a few months later.

It's unfortunate that dealers are exploiting the demand for the car this way. Just make it first come, first served and when the first allotment is sold out it's just sold out. People who seriously want one, and there will be many more than 1500 of them, will sign up for the second year run.
Greed is the name of the game for the dealerships.

Let's not get carried away guys. The $129,000 is based on a phone call speculation comment from a random salesman at a dealer. It's not like every GTR will be marked up $60,000. Some guy may pay that much to get the very first GTR at the dealer, but it's his money, right?
Most likely, the average markup will be about $15,000 to $20,000, and then start to whittle down as time progresses.
Even with a markup, $80,000 to $90,000 really isn't that bad for a vehicle with this kind of supercar performance, everyday practicality, all-weather usability, and exclusivity.
And if they do really keep it at 1500 units per year, resale value will likely be VERY high.

Give it a year, if something is selling, Nissan will smell the money, especially in this economy...as long as they are hitting their profit margins not much to worry about, but a first year car is still a first year car and all sorts of things can occur, no matter what the vehicle that can affect how the second year will be.
