it's cheaper to use a proven powerful design than come up with something totally new.

And they might as well reap the benefits of their investment.

You can also add cheap to that list.

Because the STi looks like crap to some?

Crap is correct. Subaru seriously needs some help in their designs.

Plus Subaru never makes 2-doors. A Subaru-based Celica (always a pretty car) will be fantastic.

I agree, as long as Toyota does the designing and Suburu suplies the engine. I would love to see another 2-door impreza!

I agree. Not everyone likes the 4-Door rally car style design. The only Subaru I thought looked pretty nice was the Legacy GT-B. I always like coupes anyway. Not saying a Toyota design will actually be attractive, but Subaru isn't coming out with attractive designs right now so might as well let someone else give it a try.

You're right, they're just giving us a cheap, lightweight RWD Subaru. Oh wait, Subaru never had a car like that before .

It sounds like you haven't followed the rumours. The rumoured sports car is supposed to have a boxer engine, be affordable, and have RWD. Rumour is that Toyota is developing the rear axle for the car because Subaru has no applicable RWD axle.

They have since 1987. I had one. 1988 Celica All-Trac turbo. Mine had over 300hp and was AWD.

If this new car looks the part I'd be all over it. STi's are not attractive to me although I'm a big Subaru fan. I've had 3 Celicas in the past and I'd love to get back into one if it meets the expectations.

I'm currently in a Mini Cooper S (daily commmuter) and it's so much fun it will be hard to replace. Awesome power to weight ratio (supercharger) and handling to boot. If Subota (Toyaru?) does this new car right, I'm first in line.

I guess only time will tell.

One thing's for sure, BMW service SUCKS and I won't miss that one bit. I'd love to jump ship back to Toyota.
