2009 RL - disapointment

It's a desperate measure to try to add interest to a car that went wrong at from the beginning. Sort of like adding more hot sauce to a dish that can't possibly taste good no matter what you do to it.

I've actually grown to like the new Audi grille more, & I have seen Audi models side by side with old vs. new grille, & I think the old ones don't necessarily looks better anymore. OTOH, this new RL grille just looks like a horrible abomination, I just don't see myself ever getting used it . . .

The chrome looks like an afterthought because it IS an afterthought. I'm very surprised they did this, whoever approved this actually made the RL, an otherwise nice looking if somewhat demure vehicle, even worse.
The much-maligned ugly concepts put out at recent US auto shows may give some insight into this. It seems like they tacked on TL-esque grille elements...
It's a disappointing makeover, considering that the RL/Legend has such potential. They tried to make the vehicle more bold but in doing so dropped a sense of balance, proportion, and general aesthetics. I much prefer the previous look of the RL, and although its sales were poor, I much doubt this heavily revised version will do better.

Geez, I'm one of the very few people here that are fond of the current RL, but this thing is just vomit inducing. While the current model looks conservative, it is very classy and very very nicely built, inside and out. But this thing look like a bastardized uglified Honda Accord. And still no V8. I'm was really hoping Acura would introduce the next RL with a V8 so that I could replace my GS with it. But now I'm giving up on Honda.
That being said, I bet this thing goes the same route as Q45 - miserable sales numbers and eventually get discontinued. That's considering that Acura Legend was once, and still is one of the most gorgeous cars on the road.
