Yeah he did that on purpouse....I believe he statted why in his thread somewhere.

btw:He has a megasquirt 3.0...maybe this is something those 1UZFE TT guys on here should look at.

A big plus about this swap in an s14 is that the engine ways about the same or just hair more than the stock nissan ka,so the car should be between 2800-2900lbs more or less....now Imagine this thing with a turbo setup.

Most 240 owners would wet them selfs if this thing pulled up next to them......

Its a cool swap, I talked to that guy last spring/summer at a NICO meet. Really great idea, 1UZ is a hell of a motor. Not sure a KA/SR trans is going to hold up to that torque but they are really cheap and easy to come by.

why would you swap in such a low power and heavy v8 w/ very limited modifications. i hope the guy is at least throwing some headers on it.

The ka tranny can hold 400, I know this for a fact, I've been rolling on the same tranny setup, and since then I've done a lot more to my KA. BC Cams, e85 + meth injection, and a lot more boost. So the ka tranny is pretty good, it's starting to grind now but I've been playing around with high boost too.

Because the engine block is able to handle around 1000 Horsepower on stock eternals...

THAT is only on the older models like that on though...i doubt mine would hold near as much as that.

I wish my LS was manual...it would be like having a 540I w/manual and a looser steering wheel.

the V8 isn't that heavy. Crazy as it sounds, it weighs just a bit more than the KA24DE engine. The 1uz-fe is aluminum where as the KA is a full cast iron block. Not to mention, we all love the v8 smoothness that comes from the 1uz-fe.

the stock KA24DE motor makes 157hp 160tq.

(i used the SR for comparison since most people who swap are obviously going that route and its a more pertinent comparison)

1UZ-FE + R154 mission 486lbs
~260hp ~260lb*ft

SR20DET Complete
+ Five Speed 490lbs (source Sport Compact Car)
~200-225hp depending on year, S15 SR are still relatively rare but dont go past 250 stock.

so, the 1UZ is a lighter motor than the SR (at most the same weight) but has twice the number of cylinders and displacement, a smoother torque curve iirc (not confirmed) and has more OVERALL potential in terms of getting power, obviously the biggest flaw is that the 1UZ is still relatively young in the market, and have only recently started to see parts coming out at reasonable prices. the upside is that the motors themselves are still DIRT cheap
