Unveiled: 2009 Chevy Traverse

I don't feel like CUVs are helping us reduce the consumption of oil all that much. Sure getting 23 mpg in a Highlander is better than getting 20 mpg in a 4Runner, but its not big enough of an impact. You could get the same performance out of a 27 mpg Legacy wagon or 28 mpg A4 wagon.

They are killing me. The Chevy line doesnt need this.....at all. They should have left it the way it was. Plus this doesnt look anything as nice as the other models. I still like the GMC version the best, and they should really add that awesome hybrid powerplant to these CUV's.
Oh well, that's their loss. I'd personally knock off at least 2 of these products. Maybe just retain the Chevy (cheapest) and the Buick (most expensive and upscale).

I agree with you. I find GM's whole brand strategy completely puzzling and stupid. While they have my respect for executing this massive turnaround and undoing the damage from years of terrible management practises, I can't believe they're still allowing this level of brand canibalization going forward.

Lexus Champion
Toyota's big advantage is that they don't have to supply versions of popular models to multiple divisions (GM, Chevy, Caddy, Buick, Pontiac) so they don't get as much duplication. The ES and RX are bread and butter vehicles for Lexus, selling in big numbers, so a little overlap isn't all bad.
