in hong kong, it's not unusual to have the license plate cost more than the vehicle itself. when i was there in 2005, i had a pleasant opportunity to drive my godfather's friend's new mb sl - i later went to the local dealership to look at prices - omg - the car i drove (with registration fees) was like 250k USD. definitely the most expensive car i've ever driven.
the mb dealer in hk was definitely a cool place and I still have a couple of hard bound books that showcased each line of MB vehicles.
Isn't there a Rolls-Royce with "1" as its plate somewhere in HK?
"1" is reserved for the Commissioner of Police in HK, & I don't think it's a Rolls.
There may be a "1" with prefix that's a Rolls owned by private citizen ...
