I've been saying the same thing too about Toyota, but their business approach is about fuel economy, and their dominating. Nissan attempts to get some of their customers back by saying they have high horsepower + fuel economy. Its just not a good time to bring a sports car back for Toyota. The sportiest thing you'll get from Toyota is a Corolla S and the IS-F

The interior dash look sway better than the cheap maxima dash though. I hate the plasticy **** look on the maxima. this dash on the 370z is . They should have just put this in the maxima. steering wheel is identical to the maxima/fx
the shifter in the 370z is totally almost taken form the gtr ...this will be one incredibly good looking car

That interior looks fantastic, much better than the 1st generation Z. However, you are right that Nissan is making the interior too similar to the entry level G sedan, which is good for Nissan and bad for the Infiniti G series.
I'm sure the Infiniti has better materials, and other little touches that make it nicer, but the average joe will think it's nearly identical.
The center console anyways.

The interior of the 370Z looks great for what it is: a sports car. I can already tell its a bit on the plain side and it doesn't look like its using quality materials.
In the other hand, the new Infiniti's have a much more elegant interior. Though it's sharing a simiar center console, the Infiniti's have a much more premium feel to it.
I just sat in the new FX50 & EX35, and I was really surpriced. No cheap materials what so ever, and it looks fantastic. I have to admit, these new Infiniti interiors are hands down superior to BMW's plain and dated interiors.

If you're talking about the orange gauge lights that the out-going car has then no. I've never liked the orange instrumentation Nissan used on their last gen cars. Fortunately that seems to be a thing of the past now that they have white/blue instrumentation lighting in all the new cars.

Interior looks light years ahead of previous/current model!!! Lovin that soft-touch-lth that you grab to open and close the door opposed to the hard plastic I had to grip.
Ahhhh... brings back memories...

Looks great, GO NISSAN! I *love* Porsches but love fact that Nissan has the cojones to say 'oh yeah?' The new 370Z will probably give the Boxster/Cayman a real headache and of course the GT-R gives the 911 some grief although the Porsche interior is WAY more upscale than the "PS3" inside the GT-R.
But all this is great.
Now if people will have any money left to buy these cars, but that's another issue...

A new atricle at Motor Trend about the 370Z. Lots more spy pics too. Too lengthy to paste here but the below quote is telling.
http://www.motortrend.com/future/fut...ils/index.html
With the new Z, it appears Nissan has done the opposite. When it could have simply slapped on new lights and thrown a bigger engine underhood, Nissan adopted the strategy applied to the 2008 Maxima. Instead of going bigger and heavier, Nissan made the new Z shorter, wider -- and in all likelihood -- lighter and more powerful. These are the kind of real and substantial changes that should get any red-blooded sports car enthusiast cheering.
