I'd be doing a leakdown check to see if the engine's basic health is good. I'd also clean the MAF. If I was really worried about the injectors, I'd run a can of BG44K through it - I've never seen it not work if injectors were partially clogged, but to lose 33% of your efficiency implies something quite a bit worse than dirty injectors.
And for all you guy who think running lower rpm is related to economy or efficiency, you need to learn a bit about volumetric efficiency, pumping losses, and the importance of throttle position over absolute rpm. Remember, at part throttle cruise, your ECM is going to burn 1 pound of fuel for every 14.7 pounds of air the engine ingests no matter what. So if you're running with a very low VE (high pumping losses), you're still going to suffer. Overdrive gear ratios don't save fuel by themselves - optimizing the engine's tuning to use the overdrive ratio does.
