California speeders beware, CHiPs getting new unmarked Chargers

That's what I was thinking. I already had to train for Camaro headlights since CHP have been using white Z28s. I especially hate when you see some Crown Vic tailing behind you only to find out it is a taxi.

Strange that they would have the Magnum wagons, Dave. Those droop-rear rooflines and Peek-a-Boo windows would make it difficult to even put their own K-9 German Shepards back there, much less a load of equipment or prisoners. The slit rear windows also impede visibility...something of paramount importance in a police car.

While the Crown Vic, of course, did have some advantages compared to the Charger/Magnum, among them a much stronger body-on-frame design that could take a lot of punishment and pounding, more room in the trunk/rear seat for equipment, dogs, and prisoners, the Dodges also have some advantages. They are lighter than the Crown Vics, have a better power-to-weight ratio that help cops run down speeders, and they handle much better to boot. Few of today's cars are as ungainly to handle as a Crown Vic, even wih the police package (I test-drove a Mercury Marauder, which was essentially a Grand Marquis with the Crown Vic police engine-suspension/brake package for public sale).

after all, to me bottom line is crown vic are kind of old technology and with today's performances from a lot of cars, that's not enough. i had one cop friend telling me that (at least in socal) there are two kind of vic, one looks very plain and the other one that's more suit up. the suit up one has more tq and a bit more powerful, but the plain ones, they are pos. he said literally if one lights up behind me, i can completely run away from it as long as the helicopters aren't here yet
it's just revolution on cop cars in my eyes

Gee thanks, after I just got a chuckle out of your 'Jesus' post in the other thread.
Anyway, it's more fun driving a slower car fast than it is driving a fast car slow. I mean, if you had a Veyron for example, it would be pretty frustrating driving it anywhere near the speed limit don't you think?

I agree that driving a slow car fast is more fun most of the time, as long as that car is a capable car. I remember you purchased a Miata awhile ago, and that car is the perfect example of this. Back in college, a roommate of mine had one that I took out all the time. Being the good friend that I am, I still had to make fun of him for owning a "girly" car. But yes, it was a blast to drive.
However, powerful cars with a lot of torque still puts a smile on my face. Even in SoCal, where the open road is only a 3:00 AM phenomenon, there's still opportunity to shoot for gaps in traffic to make use of your car's power. I'm sure the general attitude of drivers out here is more aggressive than the norm, and it's a big benefit to have the power to get yourself out of trouble. So I guess even out here, I don't think I'd have a problem with the extra power of the Veyron.

I was driving with a friend and he pointed out a taxi and told me it was a cop. Didnt believe him till the "taxi" pulled over a speeding g35

I still have the hardwired radar detector on it though.
