Interesting, although I wonder what is camo and what is not. I suppose a coupe and convert will be offered?

I hope they will make it look great, the IS already is a gorgeous car.

Hey, as long as there's a sighting, then there's some hope
Eventually the GS, then the LS by the time I collect social security

The concept that the 2IS is based on. I hope the production car draws closer to this concept (I really like the side profile ) and not a regular 2IS with 2 less doors and a chopped top.

I think it would be pretty cool that IS can make two doors so we can finally compete with the BMW 3 coupes....can not wait to see the actual car when it comes out.....

Trying to throw my mind back to all those technical German classes I slept through, I think the article is saying that the IS will offer a Cabrio model (assumed in addition to the 4-door), and is designed to compete directly with the 3-series Bimmer. The folding hard top necessitates the thick hindquarters, but there is no mistake, the article promises the availability of the 423 horsepower V8 taken from the IS-F "sedan". THAT should be interesting!

Not bad at all, although I too hoped that the LF-C would somehow make its way to the IS convertible.

BMW should be worried... haha

Anyway, it kind of looks like SC. Never having been a huge car expert, I kind of don't understand why IS convertible has to be introduced if Lexus has SC? What different roles will they serve? Similarly BMW has 3 series coupe while they also have something like 6-series. I apologize for the noobness.

Because not everybody that Lexus wants to sell to can afford a $70k car. The IS, like the 3er, is their entry-level model. Sporty and (somewhat) reasonably priced.

By comparison, the SC is like a 2+2 LS convertible, in terms of ride, luxury and interior appointments. Likewise, the 6 has more in common with the 7 than it does the 3. Both are considerably softer than the less-expensive models. I believe even the M6's suspension is more compliant and less sporty than the sports suspension on a regular 3-series, much less an M3. These are big, soft, and cushy freeway cruisers.

About time. Where was this car when I was shopping for a coupe? I think this car will have a different tail light treatment than the sedan. Lexus may have a winner here.

I dont think they need an IS convert. Its making the IS a 3 series copy cat. Just make this the new SC.

Agreed, it makes no sense to introduce the Cab that late in the product cycle. Hopefully Lexus will get smart and launch a new 3IS around that time and within a year of that offer a Coupe and Cab (hopefully versions that have a usable back seat!).

Better late than never, Lexus. The question is: will anybody care?

The SC is more of a 2 door GS. As the 6 is the 2 door 5.

The SC is priced a lot higher than the 3 series coupe/convertible. They serve different purposes.

About damn time if you ask me. Now Lexus can truly compete now. All they need to do is offer it in a non drop top coupe so it will be a bit less expensive and bam Im all over it like Roise O'Donnell on cheesecake.
