Yeah, it has to be an obvious shot at the IS-F. If they were not worried, they would just overprice the car or raise the price and raise the standard features.
We all know its RARE for a M3 or C63 to walk out the door with the base MSRP. Most ordered by dealers will have tons of add ons.
However, they can claim a lower MSRP than Lexus can.
AMAZING. To think the LEXUS is more expensive than the Germans?![EEK!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/eek1.gif)

i am playing from memory, but say the e46 m3, i remember relatively loaded price was around 60k. the e39 m5, it was about 80k. now look at the new e60 m5, relatively loaded one is at 90k, but the new e92 m3 is around 65-67k. i personally expected the m3 and c63 to be around 70k, so that's why i think they are "cheaper" now

$53k is a pretty good base price. Probably add $7k - $10k in options for the P1 or P2 package and the gas guzzler tax.
Here are some pics from a member of MBWorld in AZ of some Euro spec C63s which are being used for testing:

...lol. omg this isnt looking good for lexus at all. now i wouldnt even buy the IS-F. much rather have that monster 6.2 engine.
if we think about it, lexus had to basically add all this stuff to their 5.0 which costs a lot of money. merc already had their V8 from the other cars, all they had to do was detune it.
not looking good at all

Its just the M3 pricing over again, I took me 65k on an M3 to match a 60k IS-F nothing to see here.

The Germans clearly anticipated the IS-F as a threat and have come in with ultra aggressive pricing, even if just base prices.
As others have said here, the prices of comparably equipped cars is more indicative of the real world than rock bottom prices on paper.
Also, I think the fact that these three cars are within $2,500 of each other is actually good news...it levels the playing field. We won't read any reviews where it's "Well at $10K more the Mercedes is worth the premium and the M3 is a solid mid range model, but it's hard to ignore the Lexus based on value." These cars are all very even matched IMO. I'm also betting Caddy will come in around $55K for the 550hp CTSV. The wild card will be the new RS4 which in it's previous generation had a base of $65K...a good 10K above these three.
Something else to mention is that I think each of these cars actually have very different personalities so it's hard to just quantify these cars without really qualifying them.
I'm ready for a comparo!
