As much of a fan as I am not of BMW (nothing wrong with them,, just not what i like), for the midlife crisis,, wanting to get noticed, and liking to practice pick up the 6 series convert and throw some new shoes on it. Trust me, maaddd looks to you for driving it. Orrr you can always go this route. This way once you are finished "practicing" you will be ready for the next step already. LOL!!!

if your going through a mid life crisis, and love cars, why go practical, theres always more time to save money
911 is the mid life crisis car, sorry to say it, but they are so friggin awesome, and if you cant buy a new one, you can get a used one with low miles and all records, maintnence, and A WARRANTY from the dealership for the same price as a new 3 series, aint life wonderful

1. How much you looking to spend?
2. New or used?
3. 2 or 4 door?
4. Used as daily driver or weekend cruiser?
5. Manual or Automatic? (since some come only in manuals)
6. Hardtop or 'vert (since some arent offered in a 'vert or you may not even want one)
7. Gas mileage an issue?
This should significantly narrow down your search. Otherwise its pointless to just start rambling off cars.

In the realm of not stratospheric prices, a couple of suggestions for 30 something mid-life crisis car:
More $ - Audi S5.
Less $ - Ford Mustang Bullitt edition.![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I just saw Motorweek's review of the Mustang Bullitt and that thing went surprisingly FLAT around a track, does 5.1 0-60 and 1/4 in 13.7 (I know, not record breaking but that's NOT slow) and it sounds AWESOME.

Hey Mike,
I've been keeping up with this thread to see what people recommend. It's interesting, really. I guess it really is a personal choice.
There are only a handful of cars that really inspire me. None of these cars are very practical. I'd buy:
$30k - $40k: NA1 NSX
$40k - $50k: NA2 NSX or SC NA1 NSX
$60k - $70k: 996 tt or GT3
$130k: used Gallardo or R8
It really is tough to beat the NSX in the lower range. It's reliable, relatively cheap to maintain, holds it's value, and is still a looker despite it's considerable age. There are plenty of faster cars, but nowhere near the fun. That's why the 996 tt is on my list - a little faster than the NSX is no big deal, but scary fast like the tt is always fun.
