Your IS350 is king of the road in your own dreams. God forbid you pull up next to one of the competition.

The only competitor the IS350 is faster than MAY BE the C350, but I don't have any numbers on it.
Price-wise there is no way IS350 is compared to S5, there is a twenty thousand dollars difference there.

lol.

Based on what are you comparing these cars? Ones that are faster than lexus variants? ha ha ha.

You cant compare S5 with IS350 - S5 is 10k more expensive vehicle (at least).

funny guy.

No cylinder count doesn't matter because one of those cars is boosted.

The Lexus F-line, BMW M, AMG, and Audi RS4 all are about $70k loaded...i think there are better cars in that price range than those if you want sport...
Audi is strange with offering S and RS lines. Fact is both the S and RS compete more with the F/AMG/M cars than they do regular cars.

And why are you comparing a LOADED 335i and LOADED IS350 to a BASE S5? Let's keep the comparisons realistic .

Apples to apples, there is a HUGE difference in BASE price between the 335i and IS350 compared to the S5.

Thank you. This proves my point that the A5 competes with the IS350 and 335i, NOT the S5.

Loaded S5 price lands directly in M3/IS-F/C63 AMG territory. You can get a decently loaded M3/IS-F/C63 for 59K.

Cost is irrelevant. German cars cost more, and Lexus is a cheap luxury brand. Also, to those who keep screaming V6 vs V8, that's irrelevant as well.

So cost is irrelevant, whether it's a coupe being compared to a sedan is irrelevant, and the engines are irrelevant?

That makes your entire comparison irrelevant.

A car costing a little more than another doesn't knock it out of the same sector. In the case of the IS, not having a coupe yet--doesn't exclude it from competing with the 335 Sedan because the 335 coupe is available. Engines are irrelevant because it's up to the manufacturer on what they choose to put in their car. The IS could have had a similar powered V8 put it in it, but Toyota decided to go with a V6. The fact that Audi used a newly designed V8 instead of the old TT V6 doesn't exclude it from competing with the V6 IS350. If the Audi had a 400hp newly designed TT V6 you would be screaming the same nonsense about not being competitors!

Once again, FACT is that the S5/S4 is NOT in the same class as the IS350/335/C350/CTS/G35.

There is a 14K base price difference between an S5 and an IS350. If the IS350 and 335i had the same base price as the S5, then I might agree with you.

You have not explained AT ALL how the S5 competes in the entry-level luxury class with the 335i and IS350. Is it simply because it's badged an Audi and it has 4 wheels?

Using your logic, the LS600h competes with the 528i and it's irrelevant that the LS is a much bigger car, and the cost difference is also irrelevant between the two. BMW also could have put a V8 hybrid into the 528i, but chose to put in an I6 engine instead.

Let me state this clearly: the A5/A4 DO compete with the IS350 and 335i, but the S5/S4 DO NOT because they ARE NOT entry-level luxury cars.

A4/A5 are slow.

A4/A5 models you are probably comparing cost more because they are AWD.

I've driven the S5 and all I can say is "My God!"
That car is unbelievable. Not for any one thing, but for all of them. Interior is gorgeous, outside, the lines are perfect. LED everything, and handling with quattro, and strong V8. If I had the money I'd own one.

Disclaimer: I did come from an A4 before this and still have love for the german car.

I drove the S5 and I thought it looked very nice but the steering input sucked. The car felt unnecessarily heavy and it wasn't as fast as my car.

every car on the left cost 20% more than every car on the right. A competitor, to me and my wallet, should be similarly priced. In other words, it would be the ISF vs the S5. At its price point, the only "competitor" to the IS350 is the G35. A fully loaded 335i may be closer in price to the ISF than the IS350.
