Run rich enough and it's possible. Lots of turbo engines throw "fireballs" when they're running too rich on fuel.
I'm sure they're mostly running rich on the fuel systems and using some sort of pilot light triggered when the throttle is blipped. The uneven flames (one flame lights after another) leads me to believe the exhausts weren't changed because they're not in parallel.
