Hyundai to Launch Luxury Brand in 2010
#76
Well, I am one of those Hyundai-bashers who actually test drove a few Hyundai products. There is no doubt the product itself has improve since my old Hyundai in college, 25 years ago. When compare to the competition, Hyundai has the edge in some area but it is lacking in other areas. The whole Hyundai line up need refinement, its missing that little something if you know what I mean. On top of that, the dealership is terrible. The Hyundai dealership makes my local Toyota dealership look like Taj Mahal. In the end, one have to consider is it worth it to save a few thousand dollars to step down to the Hyundai name plate. That is a queation I have yet to answer myself as I am considering the Genesis as my next car.

Not a cheap shot at all, and it has nothing to do with me hating Hyundai. Its a rather hilarious clip that demonstrates that Hyundai name is simply not being taken seriously, and if they are serious about selling upscale cars like Equis or Genesis, they are in a DIRE need of luxury subdivision with a proper name.

I'd like to add that the wife and I test rode a loaded '10 Santa Fe with 20 miles on it last week. The highway wind noise and road noise was pretty bad.
Side street bumps were bumpy and produced a light rattle at the dash or windshield.
After reading articles and forums,I really thought Hyundai was so improved.
I would never have been intersested in a Hyundai but everything I read had me test driving the Sante Fe.Epic fail.
Hyundai seems to be still Hyundai to me.Maybe the Genesis is a great car but the Santa Fe was a big disapointment.

Just to be fair Joe, the Hyundai you drove could have been a beat up demo test drive car. Hyundai needs a few more years to refine their lineup. Sure on paper Hyundai looks great, almost too good to be true, but once you step into their dealership and touch and feel and drive the car, you will know why it is more affortable than the Japanese cars.
