New member to the family...
Ok... as I am now on my 3rd Lexus, ( 97 SC400, 99 RX300, 06 GS300 ),... my parents finally figured out... Camry's and 4Runners are out of style, and not to be considered as a future buy when i came time to buy them a newer car ( as they have both of those already ). So they start talkin' about Avalon's and or Camry's.... and I was like HELL TO THA NAW!!! Come on over to the darkside or the brighter side ( however you wanna see it )... They are from the old skool... would never spend over $35K on a car,... well,... I guess seeing that GS300... made them do the ultimate.
2008 Lexus LS460L - Starfire Pearl, fully loaded with Luxury pkg. It's pimp,... I went home this past weekend, and the neighbors thought it was me / mine, because it's the same color with chrome wheels. I took pics together... will post later.... but Lexus came hard with that car... very nice.
Nowwwwww.... the Austin dealer wasn't too helpful, and acted like they only wanted to sell a regular 460 to my parents,... so I contact Westside Lexus here in Houston, where I get all my work done to mine... I tell the guy... look... my parents are ready to write you a $90K check,.. all you have to do is get the L-version in the color with wheels, and there'z no work on your part. He's like cool.... so he gets a free deal.... I ask him,... since I got him that deal,... can he get me a sweet deal on the XM radio add on for my car. He tells me, they sell it for $700 installed,.. he'll do it for me for $650.
I'm like for commision on a $88K deal and change... $50 off??? Are you crazy. I call my tech from Lex... ask him how much is the XM receiver... $300. I ask how much labor to put it on... $100. So for $400 I will have my XM, for $50 he lost any future referrals.

There's 3 option packages you can get with a L version... touring, luxury, and executive. They got the luxury pkg, which from what I believe the rear seats still can seat 3, but they are different from the touring pkg back seats.

others are 5 seats. touring are 80k, as well as normal ls460l with some upgrades. there is the rear seats upgrade with audio controls and rear ac unit (smaller trunk) for 86-87k

they got the one with the controls in the back seats. here's what a review had to say about the amenities that come with the luxury pkg.
Our LS460L was equipped with a few extra baubles to make the rear seat an even more comfortable, exclusive hangout. The Luxury Package is the first upgrade on the options sheet. It brought us a leather upgrade and a faux-suede headliner for increased aesthetic and tactile appeal. There’s also more coddling involved, with the inclusion of “Climate-Comfort Rear Seats,” controlled by ***** in the fold-down armrest. These seats not only heat and cool, but also have a power reclining function. It’s not quite your grandpa’s La-Z-Boy, but it’s enough to make your chauffeured commute home that much more sumptuous. Not to mention safer, as the Luxury Package also adds rear-seat side airbags to the LS460L’s list of charms.
The coddling continues with the “Rear Seat Upgrade Package,” which includes a four-zone climate control system with an air purifier, as well as a “rear-seat cool box” hidden behind the rear armrest where you’d normally find a pass-through to the trunk. It’s too small to keep a bottle of Krug on ice for those impromptu hostile-takeover celebrations, but it will certainly cool a few beer cans. To keep the passengers cool and away from prying eyes, our LS460L also had five sunshades for the rear seat – one for the rear windshield, and one for each pane of glass aft of the B-pillar. These features can be controlled from the front, or, as undignified as it sounds, by the manual labor of the tycoon in the rear

TTL was $88K plus change.... the executive pkg down here was going for around $100K. I was there during the whole paper work part of the deal / pickup.
The Austin dealership wanted more for the same car, and was selling the touring version for what my parents paid for theirs with the luxury pkg.
I take it you got either a better deal on yours, or the dealers are a lil bit more negotiable on pricing.

maybe. my car msrp 86k (07) and got it for 78k + tax and fees, so total about 85k.
again i don't know exactly what package your parents have. the msg you quoted states there are two, luxury and then there is a rear seat upgrades. that's about 6k difference on price.
of course everything is different according to regions. here in cali competition is probably more

These are the options available at Westside Lexus, which is where they bought it from. I guess what I thought was the the cool box, is the pass thru, ....I looked at the back seating area, but have only inspected the front, as my dad was trying to have me help him figure out stuff on the Nav system, and the phone stuff / bluetooth.
