Why get him one car? I say get him a variety of cars... sport car for the track, luxury car for the roads, luxury SUV for the rainy days, an AWD for the snow days....

I don't know about your dad but my dad is 58 and old fashion and if I bought him a really expensive car then he would seriously slap me because he doesnt need it and would think its a waste of money. He doesn't care about material stuff like that.

Call it old school or anything else you want, but an LS460 is a DAMN nice car to drive. If I had 70K to spend on a car (and didn't need AWD) that is probably what would be in my parking space.

The LS 600h L. While it does have 19" wheels the steering is straight lincoln town car compared to a German. It rides very very plush and IMO doesn't like to be pushed, 5000lbs has something to do with it.

I have no problem with it, I think it hits its target market perfectly. Quite frankly in a sea of sport sameness, its refreshing to be comfy.

Anyhow, so much for this issue.....let's get back to the best car for his 55-year old dad.
Thanks. I love automotive history and I am particularly fascinated by automobiles from the 1930s and 1940s. As far as I know, Maybach was a brand positioned above Daimler-Benz focusing solely on the ultra luxury aspect and competing with another German ultra luxury brand: Horch. This means they were very expensive to buy, run and maintain. Plus, at the time Daimler-Benz was essentially one of the most powerful German brands internationally having an excellent reputation at home and abroad (North America, Europe and Japan) so it would make sense for the **** party to prefer the sleeker and "not-so-costly" Daimler-Benz products, especially the lovely 770. The photo I found and posted is from the new Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart. That black Mercedes 770 was just lovely.

Ok, enough off topic!
