Solara may be around for a 3rd Gen
#16
Here are what the Solara needs:
--Get rid of that 3.3L 210 hp V6, and let it get the current 270 hp 3.5L V6engine found on the Camry, Avalon, Highlander, and Rav4.
--FWD is fine. It will compete with the FWD Honda Accord Coupe and Altima Coupe, and it will be the only one with a convertible option.
--Give it a hardtop option. Keep the ragtop, but give it a hardtop option (like what the Sebring is now offering).
--Shorten it a bit. It's nice having quite a bit of legroom in the back. However, the car drives like a boat. For it's size, Toyota should offer a backup camera and parking sensors.

Why dont they take the avalon touring and shorten it a little rduce the weight slightly and give a body styled like a mix between the sporty version of the aurion and the current GS and make it a passat CC competitor.

That's definitely NOT a 3rd-gen Solara, and it definitely IS the Genesis. It's a bit ridiculous if the person who posted this on the Solara forums was serious. A 3rd gen Solara is nothing more than wishful thinking, unfortunately. Although I do agree if Toyota was to bring it back, they should just name it the Camry Coupe.

There is a definitely a market for a sporty coupe or a 2 door sports car and Toyota knows that.
