I am going to assume its more the transititon of selling old Corollas and getting new inventory than anything. With high gas prices and the Corolla being a high MPG car and it being all new, I expect sales to explode by the end of the year.

© 2008 The Associated Press
ATLANTA — Porsche Cars North America Inc. said Tuesday its U.S. sales sank 25 percent in March, as losses across most models offset rising sales of the Cayenne sport-utility vehicle.
The automaker said it sold 2,467 vehicles in the U.S. last month, compared with 3,278 in March 2006. Adjusted for two additional selling days in the year-ago period, sales fell 19 percent.
Sales of the sports 911 model fell to 773 from 1,363. Boxster and Cayman model sales sank to 525 from 1,036.
However, Cayenne sales rose 33 percent to 1,169, boosted by the recent launch of the new Cayenne GTS model.
So far this year, the company's U.S. sales are down 18 percent to 6,777 vehicles. When factoring in an additional selling day in 2007, sales have fallen 16 percent.

Okay, the 3 jumped back up to over 10k units after a big drop the last 2 months. The 7 lease deal is REALLY helping that car, wow!
Lexus has only the small volume IS-F and LX 570 out. BMW has the 1 series which is a volume car and the X6 coming.
It is going to be a BATTLE for the sale crown this year. Wow!!!

I think this is the FIRST time I have seen Infiniti OUTSELL Acura!! Wow. The cute ute EX sold 1500 units, their introductionary lease deals will spur initial sales. THe M35/45 outsold the GS. With a new FX coming, Infiniti might be able to get sales back in the 130k+ range like their best year in 2006.
It seems the refreshes really haven't helped the GS or M35/45 too much.

Caliber, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot
- New long-wheel base minivan models' individual sales continue to grow
- Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger increase Chrysler LLC year-to-date
market share in competitive Standard Mid-Size segment
- All-new Dodge Journey off to a great new start
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 1, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler LLC today
reported total March 2008 sales of 166,386 units which is 19 percent below
the same period last year. Total March sales reflect a combination of
positive consumer response to new models, a sustained and planned reduction

"We are in a period where the public hears news about the economy every
day and it is clearly having an impact on our industry," said Vice Chairman
and President Jim Press. "At the same time, this market environment is
driving more customers to our newest value-oriented, fuel-efficient
products like Jeep Patriot, Dodge Journey, Dodge Avenger and Chrysler
Sebring. Chrysler's strategy to right-size our operations, increase fuel
efficiency and reduce daily rental fleet sales will help us get through
this period as a stronger company with healthier dealers."

lineup of the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass and Patriot. Combined, the three
vehicles reached 21,909 compact vehicle buyers in March, an increase of 51
percent from March 2007. All three models had increased sales in March to
set a new monthly sales record for the lineup.
New customer sales increased 18 percent for Chrysler's two new long
wheel base minivans, the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan.
Total Dodge Grand Caravan March sales were 14,101, an increase of 8 percent
over the same model in 2007. The Chrysler Town & Country long wheel base
model had strong March sales of 13,335 units, a year-over-year increase of
32 percent.
Chrysler's new mid-sized cars continue to grab marketshare with total
Chrysler Sebring Sedan/Sebring Convertible sales up 23 percent and Dodge
Avenger sales up 8 percent, for a 15 percent segment increase in March
2008. Another new vehicle, the Dodge Journey sold 2,640 units in its second
month of sales.
The Company finished the month with 423,607 units of inventory, or a
66- day supply. Inventory is down by 15 percent compared with March 2007
when it was at 499,771 units.

It's definitely the first time. Ever. In the history of mankind.
Although, for the year, I think Acura will still handily outsell Infiniti. Infiniti only has the new FX coming, which is a niche low-volume vehicle, good for at most 2,500 units a month.
Acura has the new TSX coming soon and the new TL later this year, and both are high-volume vehicles.

Jeez the RX and ES sold what the entire Acura lineup sold.
Lexus is on pace to have first year in maybe 10+ years where it will have less sales than the year before. I'm not worried, it was bound to happen and its more the economy than the Lexus lineup hurting sales.
Have to say with this economy and gas prices, the LX debuted the WRONG time.
