Why didn't they just add a zero and call it the i300? Why would Hyundai take a chance and risk being sued by Infiniti over infringement? Infiniti has already gone after Audi for using the "Q" name for the Q7. What would make Hyundai think that Infiniti would let them use the entire name of one of their former best selling sedans? They really should change it.

Anyway, this is still a nice car. All the new Hyundais are pretty impressive looking these days, inside and out.

Um...

I think this is a Europe-only product. As far as I know, Infiniti has never sold (nor trademarked) the I30 in Europe. So why shouldn't Hyundai use it?

You may be right, the i30 has been out over here for a while. It's made at their plant in the Czech Republic. They also have a plant in Slovakia making the Kia C'eed which shares the same underpinnings (and is better looking). The i30 is a very competent effort - not the same interior quality or handling as a Ford Focus, but then again it's about $5k cheaper.

then why is the GTO rebadged as the 3000GT? The MMC GTO has a long history...probably like 3 decades worth and yet MMC changed it over to 3000GT even though the GTO didn't exist in the States back then.

It appears, not surprisingly, to be strongly Accent-based. But, please....I hope that is not an I-Drive type controller on the dash.
