Guys,
I am sick of getting 13mpg so I am picking up a beater to drive to work. My choices are
99 Honda Accord, EX, coupe, auto, 124k, tb/wp done.
97 Toyota Camry XLE, sedan, auto 134k, tb/wp done.
Saying they are both in the same condition and both the same price, which would you choose.
Will be left completely stock with no desire to modify.
I would prefer a coupe but can do a sedan.

I'm looking at getting one of those as a daily also. I find the Camry boring but that might be a good thing I can do tints and call it a day but I like the Accord also. I know the V6 accord and some of the 4cyl ones had tranny(auto) issues. I was looking at a four door 99 Integra but those get stolen a lot and the insurance costs are a little higher. I'm still undecided. But of those two if you're going for looks the Accord Coupe will be the best choice.

Is the Camry a V6 or I4? same with the Accord. Personally, I like the Accord better, but would choose the Camry if it is an I4 as it is much easier to work on the engine if you needed to. Changing things like the starter on an I4 Camry is duck soup. The Accord is more involving as it is lower on the engine. Forget the V6 Camry as it is also harder to work on. Try accessing the spark plugs on the rear bank of a V6 Camry

Camry all the way Jonny!
I am sick of Accord, I had 3 of them, and the interior build quality is bad! Always something fall apart!![Mad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
And yet Accord is a little on the sporty side, but Camry is much more refined!
I would get 01+ Camry tho, since the tails looks better.
I sold mine 2 years ago for 7000.

How long's the commute? If it's not that long, get something FUN and economical, like a Miata!

you said you prefer the coupe, it has less miles, and its a newer model...so why not go with the honda.

I would get the Accord. 1997 was the first MY of that generation Camry and it is never a good idea to buy a first MY of any car IMO, especially used. However, if the Accord is a V6, I would get the Camry. The first years of that generation Accord V6 transmissions have major issues. Also keep an eye out for sludge in the Camry.
