2010: Acura Launches in Europe
Acura Brand to Launch in Europe in 2010 w/ New NSX
Late last month we showed you sketches of what the next NSX production car would look like. The sportscar flagship was due for unveiling in production trim at last year's Tokyo Auto Show, but due to Honda's designers not agreeing on the final design, they delayed it. The newest reports have the new NSX launch the Acura brand in Europe when it is released in the fall of 2010.
Unlike the original NSX, the new car will be powered by a 4.5 liter V10 engine good for about 550 horsepower and positioned ahead of the driver, with the public unveiling at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show, according to Autocar sources from Japan. At the same time, that car will not have the same long nose as the concept (pictured) but "Corvette overtones."
Soon after the brand and the NSX launch in Europe, Honda will follow it up with a range of rear-wheel drive sedans no doubt based on the NSX platform, in order to compete with the likes of Infiniti, Lexus and BMW. The first big sedan, aimed to compete with BMW's 7-series, should be out in 2015.

yea ... one of the cool things about the NSX was that it didnt have a massive engine but it was still fast, fun to drive, etc ... however i like where this is going with the RWD idea ... but, i have little faith in honda and their ability to not screw it up

Why on Earth will it take Acura 7 more years to develop a flagship sedan to compete with the LS/S/7 anyway? They're just ridiculous at this point. By 2015, me thinks several of these so-called "luxury brands" will no longer be in business. Jaguar is on the ropes, Saab & Lincoln are suffering, and Acura is just too slow to keep up with their competition. By 2015, Lexus will probably have full size plug-in hybrid sedans that get 40 MPG+ competing with the world's best (Benz & BMW). Will anyone really care if Acura is finally putting out a RWD V8 sedan that should have already been out 20 years ago? The answer is no.

Interesting. They do this after the fact a news article said Nissan is considering a "4 door GT-R". Well not exactly a 4-door GT-R but an Infiniti flagship with the GT-R chassis and TT engine with, of course, more luxury.

Although Honda is seen as a premium mass market producer in Europe alongside VW(somewhere between BMW, Mercedes, Audi on one side and Ford, GM on the other), big Hondas don't sell. I can't see Acura occupying any different position in the market, there's zero brand awareness, and I can't see sales being significant.
