Just saw a Volkswagen commercial starring Leonard Nimoy, advertising the fastest shifting transmission in the universe. What's that all about?

I can definitely believe it after driving a new Audi TT 2.0t with DSG... awesome transmission, especially for aggressive driving.
It basically acts like an automatically shifted manual with, I believe, two clutches, so that one is always in place for the next gear. Basically the shift time is more or less almost zero because the transmission is already in the next gear. Exception being when you need to shift up or down more than one gear at a time.

First, IS-F is a slushbox whereas others like SMG and dual clutch gearboxes are not torque converters. So that's not apple to apple comparison. But Lexus claims 0.1 sec for IS-F slushbox. SMGII for BMW E46 M3 which was out in 2001 shifts at 0.08 sec in S6 mode.
