Default The most pointless comparison test...

So I buy a $15 magazine the other day here in Japan, bc it says "The fight for the highest top speed" . The main reason why I was interested was b/c it had the GTR, IS-F and CLS63 AMG tested.

So it I start going through the pages and the usual super cars like the Lambo LP640, Ferrari 599, Porsche carrera GT and of corse the many others are mentioned first. But as I turn the pages the times are getting slower and slower, so I am thinking where the two Japanese cars are and I get to the last page. What do I find? The GTR and IS-F were clocked at a top speed of 182 Km/h and 180 Km/h respectively, the idiots didn't take the speed limiters off...
What is the point of doing a test like that?!

Anyway, I was just pissed and wanted to vent.

They didn't even hit the speed limiters. 180km/h is roughly 112mph

I'm pretty sure the limiter on the GTR (not sure about the IS-F) is actually 180kmh/112mph in Japan. I remember reading somewhere that the limiter was set ridiculously low, but that you can call Nissan when you're on a track and they'll temporarily lift the limiter

Maybe the track didn't have a very long straight away? Many short courses reward handling instead of top speed.

Yeah wow you're right Dave600hL that's truly one pointless test.

And yeah all JDM cars have this ridiculous 180km/h speed limiter.

No they said it themselves, that the limiters cut in. But , I mean ,what is the point of putting them in a shoot out like this( And to make matter worse the purpose of the test was to see all the cars top speed with all environmental conditions being equal) if they knew that they would not be able to reach top speed b/c of the limiters. I mean, if they were doing other tests like how fast they could get to say 20, 40, 60, 100, 150km/h ect ,ect it would have made the reading a little bit more interesting( not much though) . Sorry just venting again.

But how hard is it to take the limiter off? They were not on public roads ,so it wouldn't matter what they did.

Maybe they tried to make a point that having 180km/h speed limiters in domestic cars is pointless

So yeah, I'm not surprised if the top speed on the new GTR is 112 mph. Boy that first blue Skyline I read was amazing. I am not worried about the top speed. The speed limiter can be removed and go much higher speed if you were in other countries. The handling doesn't change. Heeeee heeeeeeeeee
Yeah , but with its gearing I would expect it to be a lot slower than a lot of cars and I wanted to see what it really had, not speculation. Anyway...
