Are you guys interested in seeing photos of a classic German car show?
Last Sunday me and a colleague from work attended a local classic car show in a small German town outside of Munich (I need to look up the name again). My colleague, Andre, owns a '78 Mercedes 350SE S class and was a participant at the show. We left Stuttgart early in the morning (about 5:00 AM) and drove at a quick pace on the Autobahn A8 towards Munich and then towards this little town.
I took over 1,000 photos that day and I'll gladly post them here, but I am just curious if you're all interested in seeing them (or not). There were some really interesting and beautiful cars that need to be seen. The impression I got was that the Europeans are very passionate about cars in general. In France a few months ago I was lucky enough to attend a classic Renault event (that also had classics from Italy, Britain and Germany) and the French struck me as equally passionate about cars.
I'm very busy at work so I can only perhaps post a thread or two per week with about 20-40 pictures per thread.
Is it cool with you guys?
Anyway, here is my work colleagues car, a 1978 Mercedes 350SEL (which is incidentally the last photo I took that day before running out of battery juice). I actually took more pictures of the car at the show but since I went over 1,000 photos my camera apparently deleted the first 40 or so pictures I took. A shame since I thought those really came out so well!
I've got to say, this thing is very comfortable and surprisingly quiet for a 1970s car. The engine can always be heard purring (it's a 3.5-l V8) but it is a reassuringly low noise that calms you. Wind noises are incredibly low too!
But it sure likes to guzzle gas, especially when Andre was driving it at full power. But with the large gas tank, no problem!
So, interested?
