Hopefully this new TL is proof that the RL will be moving significantly upscale, but then again that proves a whole lot of other complexities for their lineup.

TL vs...GS, 5, E, A6? FAIL

TSX vs....IS, 3, C, A4? FAIL AGAIN.

This car is big and heavy enough to make it an outcast from what were it's direct competitors, and even an outcast within it's own stable.
I figured the drive would be good, the last FWD TL was already a great drive, adding SH-AWD can only get better. However the price is no thanks and if I want a 42k car made in America, I'll buy a CTS thank you.

Not sure why they think its higher than entry level as the price is square where the IS/3/C/A4 is and those cars can hit near 50k. The Tl has one big big big thing over those cars and that is SIZE. I cannot believe it is now as big/bigger than a RL and 4000 lbs in AWD form. Wow.

$34000 is an appropriate price in this range.
same price as the Lexus ES

a fully loaded ES runs past $40k too.

bigger car means people can eat more burgers and still fit. win-win.

actually, i take that back. it has grown in length, but that's not really reflected in interior space. there's only an extra inch of rear leg room.

paradoxically, trunk space is small at 13 cuft.
so wtf did all the extra length go? the big *** bumpers? yeah that must be it.

I don't think this car is overpriced. It offers a LOT more than, especially sh-awd version, the other 'entry' luxury cars like IS, 3, G and even GS.

But whoever does an aftermarket grill will make a killing.

They've pretty much given up on the current gen RL at this point. Now that this monstrosity is out, I'm sure the focus is on the next gen.

I think everyone knows, including Acura, that the RL isn't going to sale regardless. The new RL is already in the make so this current generation means nothing to them.

if this is the same size as the accord, it isn't that large.

the accord doesn't look big at all in person

An IS350 weighs 3600 lbs without AWD, the new TL is 6 inches longer than the old one and its still under 4k pounds with the SH-AWD drivetrain. Numbers are reasonable to me

I really feel like the side profile is a dead ringer for a Nissan. Almost identical to both the Altima and Maxima.

It also offers a lot less.
1. Still based off the Accord (like the ES Camry connection)
2. Still built in Ohio
3. Still an old 5 speed auto
4. Still an old engine bumped to 3.7 liters with less power
5. No true push button start

No one can tell the difference between most any AWD system unless they really push the car at the track or the car is out of control on the road. For Acura that means 95% of the time its 70% to the front wheels, 30% to the rear. Audi is 50/50. Lexus/Infiniti is 30/70.

An aftermarket grill won't help b/c IMO, the ENTIRE car is just a huge mess. Its not even adding lipstick to a pig. Its adding LIPS to a pig.

It's shocking because the TL use to be priced cheaper than that. We're talking $42k for a non-type S model. The last TL-S fully loaded cost maybe the same or a hair less. I'm afraid to see how much the Type S model will cost.

There are few cars out there with this combination. Lexus had them in the 2nd gen GS and 2nd gen SC. They called it the saddle interior. I think its an acquired taste. At first I HATED it until I saw it in person, then I fell in love.
