Spotted this cutie on the road

Those aren't parking sensors; they are tabs to remove the plastic body panels. The colored pieces of this car are interchangeable.

We have a Smart dealership attached to the Jaguar dealership here in Sarasota (which is next door to the Lexus dealership), but I was fully familiar with this vehicle after living 6 years in Mexico where it started out as a gray market import. They do have some decent pickup, not spectacular, but I know of some cases down there where they basically got batted like a billiard ball in an accident, rather than getting crushed (though that happened to). But then again, I have seen other small subcompacts down there (not sold in the U.S.) also get batted off the freeway by semis.

One of my teachers/technicians that i was talkin to made a very good point.
He was saying why would you get a small deathtrap car like this, when you can get a roomier honda or toyota that gets the same gas mileage?
and i agree with him, i would never buy one of these because of the fact that it looks extremely unsafe, and it probably is.
im guessing it has to do with the looks? even though imo it doesnt look that good. idk, maybe someone can explain.

5th gear i think it was that did a crash test against a vauxhall, and a concrete wall.

price tag I believe is $12000ish here in the US. that's base model though. adding optiions will get you to $14k ish, then convertible adds a few thousands more. Not worth it IMO, honda fit is more worth it for $14/15k ish.

Right on Clark Road is the dealership. I saw on of those cabrio models last night at the Bonefish on Cortez in Bradenton. These U.S. Smarts seem a bit bigger than the ones I was used to down in Mexico (I guess that would be a good thing).

My Parents got one and I drove it around for an hour and I loved the little thing. It had plenty of power to do all the normal things and got smiles + at every light someone asks you a question about it...lol
Its pretty big on the inside, didn't feel like how it looked from the outside!!!
I felt very safe, I even drove it on the 57 freeway out in Los Angles, i think most people think that its crap because its so tiny but you have to drive it to really know what it is!!!!
When I drove theirs I got around 81.3 MPG, I don't know how but thats what the car says!!!

b200 is also a neat little car, had those on the road when I was back in Mexico, a big improvement over the A160/A190.
