Default Acetone to save gas??

I was told by my buddy who is a certified Toyota mechanic that if you add 4 ounces of acetone to every tank full or in my case 11 gallons of gas on my 1999 Corolla DD it will increase MPG by as much as 20%. I took the risk and added the 4oz last Saturday and I am 1/4 tank down showing 101 miles that is a good increase because I have checked this before and the most I got was around 92 gallons / .25 tank, so far this is proving to be true!

Now I am not telling you to go ahead and try this but sounds like an alternate as long as this will not harm essential parts on your vehicle...

Watch....Next will be acetone going up in price

A gallon of acetone averaging $15-$20 a gallon, I'd rather just buy gas.

this myth has been around for ~40-60 years and has never been proven.

This kind of thread happens everytime there's little spike in gas price. I'm surprised there isn't "Can I put 87 instead of premium since 93/91 is so expensive" thread.

I knew a guy that had a friend that dated a girl who's dad did this and put a lot of mileage improving items on the car such as magic turbo air filter. He drove 50 miles and his gas tank overflowed!! Absolutely Amazing!!

ugh people need to wise up. Honestly the price difference between premium and regular is just a few bucks at most per fill up. Not that big of a deal if you're driving a luxury car.

Should've went Honda or Toyota if you needed to ask that question.
