I'd have to agree with this comment after looking at the shots again. It does look more like a design decision for the market.

USDM one looks better, more aggressive. maybe if the red one was the jdm one and the blue was usdm people would like the red one more.

The spoiler, rims, and red color all have something to do with the USDM model looking more "aggressive".

True. The US model shown is the "Sport", while the JDM is the base model.
Other photos were probably not available for comparison.

Perhaps. Just seems like an odd design decision.

I should note that the longer hood is not the issue, but the front overhang is, relative to the proportions of the rest of the car. If you focus on where the front wheels are positioned, they clearly seem like they're in the wrong spot and pushed back. A longer wheelbase would fix the whole issue. The body itself looks good though.

It does seem strange for a design decision. The alternative though is that Honda was unable to make a short nose that meets US regulations.

Doesn't matter...you'll hang a body kit on it and it will be 100X nicer. They look pretty nice slammed with a +2 wheel-tire combo.

Stuff in a V-6 mid-mount and the 300 series JDM license plate will throw everyone off.

JDM.

After looking at a bunch of pics of each version, it does become more difficult to tell them apart in other angles. It's mainly the profile shot that gives it away.

Plus, this light blue is a color that will most likely not come to the US. THe Japanese and Euro markets offer a lot more colors for some reason - even pink!

Thanks to those pesky US bumper regulations, most will probably agree that the proportions of the US Fit are all screwed up.

As I will soon be in the market for a new subcompact to replace my gas guzzling V-8, the '09 Fit is on the list. Thing is, it's a bit hard to get past the awkwardly long front overhang of the US version. But viewed from any other angle other than profile, it doesn't look that bad. For me, it's not a deal breaker but nevertheless a bit of a letdown.

Here's a profile comparison of the two versions. Let me know which one you guys prefer (even though we don't have a choice). Did US regulations ruin the Fit?
Note the higher hood on the USDM. Methinks it's the world Fit. The JDM Fit is.. well for japan only. The higher hood has to be for the European pedestrian impact regulation. The slightly longer rear bumper also makes the back look better than the flat JDM.

My vote (surprisingly) goes to the USDM. I also like the rear lights better.
