Funny thing is... they actually had an episode on Nip/Tuck about this a few seasons ago. After Sean totalled his Audi, Audi contacted him and offered him a new car if he would be the doctor to supervise and inspect crash test cadavers.

I like it, lets start by emptying Guantanamo Bay

The penal system first; those in for molestation, rape, murder, etc.... They need to pay back society somehow. What better way than to strap them into a new luxury car.

Surely they prep the bodies to avoid the unpleasantries.

Think of all the tax money we'd save..

We could also have pedestrian impact trials.

i don't see a problem with that, at least we can see what would happen to a real person in a crash and what not.

In the 1940's BMW got to use boxcars of real alive crash test dummys.

When I die I want to be crash tested in whatever the quickest AMG is at the time. Hopefully thats long enough away to be the CLL6000

Wonder how they keep the bodies from decomposing long enough for the tests? They must drain the blood out and use embalming fluid like in funeral homes.

I agree this type of test has some value but only a limited amount. It cannot show, for instance, whether a human would lose consciousness by an air-bag deployment or excessive G-forces...the bodies, like dummies, are already unconscious. And like dummies, deceased bodies just sit there before a crash and don't move. Real human beings, in a real crash, sometimes react by throwing their hands up or trying to shield themselves right before the impact, if they realize they are going to crash....that, of course, sometimes has their arms in a different position from where a dummy's (or dead body's) would be.

But, while not perfect, I agree the tests DO have some good merit....they are certainly better than nothing.
