Default Headlight Covers Compared to Todays HID's Oh the Good Old Days!!

I was looking through some old car pics that I had from over ten years ago and I laughed to myself. First and foremost, can anyone remember the GTS headlight smoked cover trend in the mid 90's? It subsequently yielded terrible night vision on the road but looked oh so cool during the daytime (LOL). I even had the vent visors on my 1994 Grand Am GT. Looking back; it is like having that dreaded Dumb and Dumber bowl haircut my mom thought looked cute when I was a kid. Since I got rid of that haircut two months ago, my dating life improved!! Anyway, back on the GTS headlight covers. I remember the only car I use to see in the mid 90's having HID's was the Lincoln Mark VIII's. Everyone flashed the high beams and pi**ed and Moaned about the glare. I personally loved it. We have all come along way especially with the HID fog kits many members have installed.

Below are some random pics I found online. I would never drive a Ford, so this is not my picture (bad enough I had GM back then).

I could not resist:

I remember those things (Though I was starting to forget about them). I always thought they looked pretty dumb, especially with the almost unsafe decrease in night time visibility taken into consideration. Then again I've pretty much always hated all appearance modifications that in any way decrease or hinder the abilities of a vehicle - like rear spoilers on FWD cars, fake hood scoops, or oversized wheels.

Haha... nice. I had an '89 and then a '96 T-bird and had covers for both of them. I'd pull them off at night if I was driving in areas w/o street lights - but the driving lights I had on the '96 usually did the trick to allow me to see where I was going.

Thankfully I wasn't dumb enough to pour that much money into those cars... talk about horrible resale.

Having HID lights on my '02 Maxima SE and current LS400 I couldn't own anything without them going forward!

What you dont like the GTS Blackouts!!! I had them on my Accord, my boys had them on their 626 and Ford Taurus. You have to ride with the high beams on to get the true night driving effect!! LOL
