Even if this hybrid from Honda gets better fuel economy than the Prius (which I think this article failed to note that the next gen. Prius will be even more fuel savy) it will never outsell the Prius I feel because America associates the Prius with good mileage, its green, and now people are understanding that its reliable. Its got a mainstream name, where the Insight was merely niche(ish).

What Honda needs to do is rework the Accord Hybrid - having the IMA system bolted to a J30A V6 was a bad idea. I say take the K20Z3 from the Civic Si but detune it just a tad and add the IMA on.

The dedicated hybrid kept saying "Civic-derived". Honda might as well call it the Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid.

But I know IMA is a lot cheaper to produce even before the cost-shavings so this will help bring hybrids to the middle class that can't afford or don't want a Camry Hybrid (or similar)
