The all-new 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK is set to roll-in at the Paris Motor Show in October and with only months to go engineers are furiously fine-tuning the car before it makes its world debut. These latest spy shots give us the closest look yet at the car’s new profile, revealing crucial new clues about its wheelbase and overhangs.

The softer lines of the current CLK have been replaced with a chiseled look and wedge profile borrowed from the larger S-Class. Also borrowed from the flagship saloon will be the latest Presafe brake assist and night vision technologies plus an updated COMAND system.

Powertrains will be similar to the C-Class sedan including the new 272hp 3.5L V6 engine as well as Mercedes’ 5.5L V8 for the CLK500 flagship. An even more powerful AMG version is guaranteed; sporting the 481hp version of the hand built 6.2L V8 engine. The CLK will be offered with optional 4Matic AWD and could possibly come with a new mild-hybrid option.

Alongside the reveal of the CLK at Paris will be a new ‘Shooting Brake’ concept, which is tipped to enter production late next year.
