im 15 and have always liked motorcycles, specially ninjas ducatis, ducati 1098 especially . but anyways, i thought one of these would be real cool to have to commutue to and from school, but mom says no says to dangerous, not to go off topic, but what is the process to get a license to be able to ride a motorcyles, and how hard is it to have a bike? like maintnence and riding it ect.

Hey guys,
Well im going to be a sophmore in college next year.. and i was considering getting a scooter to ride to and from class.. and around campus.. but then i decided that might be kinda cheesy for a musclur dude on a little scooter..
so i am now considering getting a 2008 ninja 250r... its just a beginner bike that geats great mpg and will be nice to zip around and be able to park right outside my classes..
i know i could get a 600cc or something but im not trying to race around the highway and stuff bc i know id kill myself.. but do you guys know anyhting about the 250r or think it might be a good choice for me?
heres a pic.. they just changed the look this year.. it looks really nice now

^^ yes they have frame sliders for it by shogun
i may wait for the 500r because they are redesigning it as well.. but im 19 years old and will be a noobie to a bike... anyone who recommends me a 600cc isnt too bright!!!
and to answer the insurance question.. if you just get liabilty, its very cheap for a ninja 250

A Vespa 250GT, Honda Reflex, Honds Big Ruckus, or Yamaha Majesty (this one is 400cc) are easy "bikes" to learn with (learn the rules of the road first, then the sport of the bike). You would need a motorcycle license to use them, and they get about 60-70 mph. Insurance is dirt cheap (I had $400 for a YEAR of full coverage when I first got my license). Storage under the seat is excellent; usually can fit two helmets or a couple bags of groceries.
You can survive college with that...
