Post VW CEO threatens to resign if Porsche interferes

Forbes -

http://www.forbes.com/afxnewsl....html

RANKFURT - Volkswagen AG chief executive Martin Winterkorn has threatened to resign if Porsche AG interferes with the group's operations, according to Der Spiegel magazine, citing sources.

The report also said that managers at VW unit Audi are worried the brand could be the first affected once Porsche becomes a majority shareholder in the group. Audi is seen as a competitor to Porsche.

Porsche, which owns an about 31 percent shareholding in VW, has said it wants to increase its stake to more than 50 percent this year.

I'd say don't let the door hit you on the way out. The more Porsche influence in VW the better IMHO. But that's just me.

Winterkorn's threat to resign is hallow simply because if Porsche took majority control of the company he would be force outta there anyways.

Sounds good to me. Maybe Porsche understands to not have VW compete with Audi and start building cheap cars again.

I didn't know Porsche could influence VW... Oh well, I'm for it.

I saw this story on Bloomberg overnight last night. They didn't go into any more detail either. As far as I'm concerned, VW has much, much more to gain from Porsche involvement than they have to lose.

great, we won't be seeing design changes in VW, Audi, Lambo, etc anymore as Porsche retained their design for what? 40+ years?
