I usually see suburbans and expeditions on the fast lane. I can probably see them getting 15mph highway right there.

what gas are they saving???!?!?!?!?!? well they get mid-high 30's at about 70mph cruise...probably still in the 30's at 80mph...so compare that to a Ford Exploder or Chevy Suburban and whoever is driving the Civic is saving a ton of gas!

Most people are paying MSRP or close to it for LX/EX Civics due to high demands. While Accords can be had at invoice or lower and factory 2.9% financing. It actually cost more to buy a Civic and the fuel saving isn't that much better since civic will be thrashed most of the time to keep up with traffic.
There's three fat chick that works down the hall from me, They are all nearly 6ft tall and commutes daily in their friends little civic to get lunch. One can barely fit in the rear, once all three are able to squeeze themselves in, car looked like it was slammed with a 3" drop and the little engine struggles to make it's way back to the parking lot. Ain't no gas saving to be had there. Just premature shock wear and tear. Should've gotten a more efficient larger accord.

My avg in my 06 civic EX is 31.2 ALL city.
when i do take hwy trips, the last one averaged 42.4 @ a styeady 70 on cruise. it drops to 40 @ 75. @ 75mph, im only turning about 2500 Rpm as oppsed to the roughly 3300 on every other 4 cyl currently on the market...if they gave it a "cruise gear" (6th gear) in the auto and dropped the RPM to about 1700, it would jump even more.
this is a HUGE Jump from the 18/27 i got on my 05 Matrix XR (AWD). 4cyl+Auto+AWD+3000 lbs=Slow gas hog. the car would have actually been MORE fuel effecient if it were a small V6. engine wouldnt have to work so hard to move the car. burns a lot of fuel that way.
