Corvette falling apart on the drive home? Not in my experience buddy. I've had more catastrophic failures with my Lamborghini.
My C6 has kept me alive during the monthly trackdays, idiot moves i make on onramps from time to time, and various other emergency maneuvers with approx. $1k in service a year.
Thats quality.
I sure wish my Nera ran that well.

I agree with a lot of your post, though. I wonder, myself, if the timing of the CTS-V could be all wrong, but then again, it is a limited production niche vehicle. I think it will do Ok. There are a lot of enthusiasts salivating over it, me, included.

Edmunds rode in it and wrote up a pretty good review.

Ron430.. The traditional Cadillac customer? (Me) - We've been all but forgotten about. But that's what Lexus does best these days.. Comfortable, quiet, powerful vehicles that also happen to be extremely reliable.. They're not quite there with "style" as far as me and probably most other people are concerned - but I do like the looks of most Lexus vehicles...
Cadillac is only out of the Cadillac-specific V8 engine business.. They aren't abandoning V8s altogether.. The LSx series has come far enough, technology-wise, that it can be used in high luxury automobiles. Am I happy about that? No. I loved the Northstar.. However, GM doesn't have enough money to bring it to the next level. So that's that.. Done deal - gone.
I THINK the LSx engines will be okay in the new full size Caddys they find themselves in. Yes, there will need to be more sound filtering and measures taken to mask some of the harshness and vibrations - but not ALL that much.

Given that the CTS-V's LSA V8 is simply a dressed-down version of the 638-horspower LS9 V8 in the ZR1, it should come as no surprise that there's more power to be had from this relatively unstressed motor. Dave Mikels, the CTS-V's powertrain integration engineer, reckons a 10 percent boost in horsepower should be within easy reach for a tuner. "I know because we've done it in development," says Mikels with the sly smile that inevitably comes when boys talk about horsepower.

WOW , what a car !!! Yes cadillac quality has come up a long way , the 2008 regular CTS stands out as the best luxury car under 45K . This monster CTS-V has set a whole new "bar" for performance and luxury combined and wish I could afford one . I will have to settle for second best ( lexus IS-F ) and not test drive the new 2009 CTS-V cadillac when it comes out or I'll be to spoiled !
I wish lexus would offer a 6 speed manual transmission on the IS-F though .
cheers
