I had a 89 944 Turbo, bought it for 1500, motor runs good,
it was a nice beat around car, I hate the gas pedal location though.
I was so regret sold it for 2K.

my dad had a 951 (944 turbo) and he loved the thing to pieces....it was in the shop every couple weeks with something else that needed to be fixed. It was also the first car I ever occupied; we drove home from the hospital in it after I was born.

I loved these cars as a teenager.. I recall seeing a silver 1986 version on a used car lot selling for 20k back in 1991.. I wish I had the cash back then to drive away with that car.. Today, one will be hard pressed to find a Porshe944 in excellent condition..

How so? Are you referring to the turbo model?

o goodness, i was looking for one a sfirst car, unfortunetly, the one i was looking at sold for 10 grand, was a red on tan turbo, 1989, with allservice records, but fortunetly, i found a blue/grayish 1986 non turbo with 40 thousandmiules with all records for 7 grand, going to take a look at this weekend, its been sitting on the lot a while, don't ask me why, but there must be a reason. I know 944 as a first car stupid, but i would pay for it and dads best friend/patient= porsche mechanic lol

Great car. But horrible reliability. My neighbor has one. Always leaks water into the engine bay. Something is always broken as he is always fixing it. He has to work on it every week since he only takes it out on the weekends and needs to prep it each time. LOL.

I got mine for 1500 4 years ago, it was parked for a year by the last owner, and has little body damages. I fix it ( bad boost leak ) and it drives perfect!
I wish I know it worth that much when I sold it.

I always thought the 944 was a V8 (like the 928) and the 924 was the 4 cyl. ???

so........ whats the difference between the 944 and the 924 then????

/confused

**EDIT** nvrmnd......just googled it and read up on it. I always thought they were sold at the same time.....not that one preceeded the other.
