Well, BMW, MB, Audi, and Jaguar all have very strong family resemblances from their entry to flagship... While most car fans like us can see the differences, most other people only notice the size differences. Maybe it's the same thing Acura is going for.

Actually you know what...you're right sirkfc. Most other brands share the same kind of design. For a top lux flagship line, you need a big body to compete with the LS460, S550, 750, etc.

BUT THE RL WAS NEVER BUILT TO COMPETE WITH THOSE CARS. It's there to compete with the GS460, E550, 550i, so it doesn't need a big body look. It's a flagship from Acura, but that doesn't mean you have to compare it to all other flagships.

I hope for the best with this car's engineering but the new direction of Acura's styling, in particular, the corporate grille, is straight-up wrong for a premium brand. It doesn't look premium, it's not distinctive and worst of all, it's not attractive.

Nissan did something similar with the Maxima tooth back in 2004. Fortunately, they saw the error of their ways and didn't let that element spread too far across the range. But looks like Acura is going all the way with theirs.

If Nissan had the tooth, Acura now has the overbite.

While the test mule pictured looks like a Frankenstein TSX, the final RL will have completely new styling unique to it. Since the Advanced Sedan Concept was unpopular to say the least, designers are believed to have gone back to the drawing board.

I thought the new one was supposed to be bumped up in size to compete with those?

Isn't it a little too late for a RWD Acura? Acura will forever be stuck with the stigma of a fancy Honda, an oversized Accord, a dipped in gold Accord, etc.

I just hope they change the grille. The refreshed RL grill is strange. They didn't put lipstick on a pig, the original RL looked rather nice, but they did botch the front end.

Better late than never. Infiniti almost went down in the dumpster a decade ago and they've made a comeback. Almost no one knew what an infiniti was, or hardly anyone bought one.

Outside of Honda faithful, who cares about the RL? The market has way to many vehicles I would chose over it. lol at Temple of Vtec.

More than anything its a diesel TSX being tested or maybe one with an engine that can get out of its own way with the automatic.

It looks more like the next TL based from the front.

Wrong, this is obviously a FR mule, the distance between the front wheel and the door is at least 5 inches longer than the current TSX. Seems like a full size FR sedan chasis being tested here.. also the brake rotors and tires are much bigger than the TSX.
