My uncle had a black 88'(?) turbo on BBS LMs in excellent condition and very low mileage. That thing was so sweet that he barely even drove it anywhere. He owned for maybe 2 years and put maybe 3,000 miles on it. He gave me a run down of the car but I was too young (15) to even comprehend the rarity and history of the car. I don't know whether he sold it because it was just too nice to drive, or because the maintenance is more costly being an older Porsche. I will call him and ask him today.

I would tell your dad to maybe register and surf some Porsche forums and do a bit of homework before pulling the trigger. Is he planning on using it as a DD? Weekend car?

weekend car, had a 944 as his weekend car before he sold it, he was inmed school and service was killing him. His daily driver is an rx350 . He isn't into the whole carforum stuff, he leaves it to me, he knows of porsche history ect, just dosn't like to work on em. all he does is add washer fluid and back in the day, used to do his own breaks, hes to busy now. He also checked insurance, and it wasn't bad at all, he didn't tell me the price, but told me it was less a month then he pays for the es 300, idk y, but thats what he told me, maybe because its older?

If he's knowledgeable of Porsche's older line of vehicles and they are not known to have too many mechanical or expensive problems, then I would tell him to pull the trigger.

I guess I am biased too since that has been my daily driver for the last 5 years!

Time lost when not in the drivers seat of a Porsche can never be regained!

It's "Porsh-uh"... and I was one of those that for the longest time said "Porsh" because, well, I could have sworn that's how I heard Dr Porsche's last name pronounced. But when they say it with the "uh" in Porsche commercials then that's pretty much proof positive of how to say it, IMO.

Why not buy a newer porsche?

16K I think would get you a 2000 boxster / boxster S...

Pros
1) it's got cool 1990's technologies like ABS, traction control

Cons
1) it is not a 911

regardless of what car, ABS will help you in extreme conditions

Boxster S is a nice car
Cayman S sounds really really nice when reved up

true porsche fans build a new car port or garage just for their porsche
i know my friend did lol

^^ i know i was j/k, and we didnt build a carport when we had a 944 and a 924 back in the back, but we did puit that stuff on the floor asnd had the car covered, no car port because to expensive and was a roomate with an audi. Although, a carport would be ballin, but the damn lx takes up to much space haha
