I was looking at the other poll about what percentage of income is spent on cars.
It's hard to get a real idea from that poll since people make more money than others and some people buy more than one car.
It would be interesting to see what people spend on cars. As sometimes people will buy a car or two in a short time but then keep them several years while other people will trade-in every other year. Some buy some lease (etc.)
For this poll, add up the last 5-years of payments (including downpayments). As well as major mods and sales tax. Don't include insurance, gas or up-keep. Include mods since that's optional and as if you were buying a more expensive car.

I tend to keep my cars longer than 5 years, my last three cars I sold were 8, 7 and almost 6 years old. So my 4 current cars are newer making my 5-year total quite high (I have bought 3 new cars in the past 2 years) but if I could hold off any new purchases my 5-year total will go down.

I am a 17 years old, I do not work so I will state my mother's expense on buying every family member a car... I have 6 siblings(one works, but didn't pay a cent for the car) who are all about 1 year apart from one another and all received new cars recently...and my mother has too ... so I would say upwards of 320k-350k USD in the past five years
