Default why is there no Mazdaspeed MX-5 [Miata]?!?!?

current generation looks ok [if you like a 4 inch gap between the tires and fender...looks like 4 wheel drive to me].

what is the hold-up on Mazda bringing the Mazdaspeed to the MX-5 (again)?

There were a limited number of turbo MazdaSpeed Miatas built several years ago (around 5000, I think). You maybe can find one used....but it will take some hunting.

Why are there no new ones? One can only speculate, but my opinion is that it is because Mazda, in the last few years, brought out several new SUV's and people-movers, and seems to be concentrating on them instead of sports cars. Obviously, they got caught flat-footed when gas prices went way up, and a lot of people today, with other problems such as mortgages and food/gas prices, just don't have the disposable cash to spend on a turbo sports car that is fun to drive on week-ends or twisty roads but has little practicality as a daily driver.

Yes, no current gen (NC) Mazdaspeed version of the MX-5. Lots of rumors about it over at miata.net, but no facts yet.

And bagwell, yes, my MX-5 has a big wheel gap but I didn't want to make the car lower still with springs so what I may do is just use plus size tires when it comes time cuz the tires on the good looking stock 17s look pretty SKINNY.

well, look at when Mazda brought out the mazdaspeed for the NB (second gen). It was the last two years of production for that generation. Car companies do this all the time-releasing a special edition or turbo model as a way to keep the public interested. So if you want to know why mazda hasn't rolled out a NC mazdaspeed look to the fact that the car is not even 3 years old.

I'd bet we will see one around 2011 and if we're lucky a little sooner, (2010).

Info on Mazdaspeed MX-5 from AutoWeek:
http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...73291025791639

MX-5 Miata: A race package arrives this fall, but racers must wait until mid-2008 for a MazdaSpeed edition. The MazdaSpeed version's 2.3-liter turbo loses some horsepower in packaging the intercooler and larger radiator. A redesign is planned for the 2010 model year when the car must comply with new 2011 rear-offset collision standards.
