I'm still convinced that those that hate iDrive haven't used it for more than a day. It's quite simple. A click in any one of 4 directions will take you exactly where you want to go. I've had the pleasure of using it and had to even use it while driving... I wish my GS had iDrive.

As for the 8... I like it, but I'm sure that compared to cars of today, it's got a lot more flaws.

Timeless design Once you hit 100mph in this car, the windows would roll up by themselves. How many cars of the time did that? I rather the 840i more so that the problematic 850i v12.

Oh, and BMW vehicles are still beautiful and more solid.. For example, the dashboard material on todays Bimmers are made from a rubberized material compared to the hard plastic of the past Bimmers. There are many more advances that I will not get into..

I had the watered down version of the CSI (850i) for a short time then traded it in for the750i. The 750i was just as quick and had useable back seats. The back seats on the 8 are pretty much useless just like the SC. The 8 was just too damn heavy and it felt that way too. But boy, I loved the look of the 8.

That's kinda cool sounding but I bet it wasn't exactly safe... dude cruising along with his arm resting on top of the fully open window... hits 100 and then freaks out when the window starts taking his left arm up with it.

I remember the material used on my mom in law's old 99 or 00 540i being of a heavier weight and more impressive feel than on my 07 335i... but then again maybe back then I was just more easily impressed as all I had was a CamaroZ28 and a Silverado.

Wasn't the 850iS the top-line trim, or was it the CSi?

Either way, the 8-series and the Z8 duke it out in my mind as the most beautiful BMW designs ever.

LOL.. It would only do it when the windows are partially down. I believe the current M6 has this feature as well..

Off the top of my head? The Mitsu GTO (3000GT I believe you guys call it).

The 8 series always reminds me of a MkIII supra, dunno if that is why It's one of my fav bimmers

I remember when Jim Jackson was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks he had a Nike commercial driving thru the city in a BMW 8 series.

I'd buy that low mileage 91 for asking price if it didn't get such terrible mileage and I didn't think it was going to be an absolute nightmare to keep running. Those low mileage garage cars always are.

Is it just me, or that white 8 series that Dashocker just posted is a lot like NSX, even the dash?

I love those cars. I saw a 840 on some used car dealrship a while back and decided to do more research on them. The 850 with the 6speed are super rare. There was something like 2-3 cars for sale in the whole country and both surprizingly in ther same dealrship and like 8k miles.
