Default Blue McLaren SLR convertible

On my way to Las Vegas from L.A. last week, I passed this blue SLR convertible. Must have been a special order color as I believe they only make them in Black or Silver from the factory. Never really cared for this car, but this was drop dead gorgeous. A black SL65 AMG was also on the truck. Very nice in person.

Unfortunately my camera skills need work.

I just can't believe that it was being transported uncovered!!

But yeah, great pics, no camera skills issues that I see!

Oh, just one more note - if it's the same car that you took a picture of, that's actually a 63 as visible from the 6.3 side vents. The 65 has the V12 Biturbo logo on the side.

While I think they are tacky regardless of the color, I'm pretty sure that is just the effect of some protective covering over the 6.3 logo. No 63 I've ever seen has the color offset.

Great find (and the shots look fine to me )!

I am not too fond of the new face of the SL, but it does look much better with the AMG treatment in my opinion. I see many standard new SL models here in Stuttgart and I just cannot find them attractive without the AMG body kit.

lol, another good reason to make sure exotics are transported covered. Where else can you find a $450k item being hauled that is also rather portable in itself?

Unfortunately as part of the '09 restyle, that is the actual color of the side vent. Looks ok on silver or white, but sticks out like a sore thumb on darker colors.

Nice pics though...the SLR looks amazing

Wow, that is... horrendous. I guess you just can't make up stuff that unbelievable. Thanks for the correction.

Never a big fan of the SLR, I always say I'd still rather have a SL55 or SL65 over the SLR, but with the disastrous(to me) restyle of the SL, I am changing my mind ...
