I'm so glad to hear the 5-door is finally coming over here. US customers have been complaining since the Yaris came out that they didn't have this choice like everyone else around the world. Toyota's marketing said that the xD takes the place. That's stupid since they are two totally different cars with different engines.

It's still perplexing to me that some auto manufacturers reports % change by total volume, while others go with the % change by DSR. A quick glance at the numbers doesn't give you a good comparison.
For example:
Ford had a change in volume of -28.1%, but based off of DSR, that would be listed at -15.8%.
Toyota reports DSR of -11.5%, but that would be a -21.3% in change of volume.
Basically, Ford's -28.1% volume change looks horrific while Toyota's -11.5% DSR looks bad, but not that bad.
Also looks like from those reported sales, BMW is #1 for the month (20,944), Lexus #2 (20,253), with Mercedes just a step behind at #3 (19,576).

As for GS sales (still matters to me as a former owner!), the 1200 odd sales for June actually isn't bad given the sucky market. But I don't think the GS represents anything particularly well. It isn't a good value, it isn't very sporty, it isn't a great looker (to me). It's 'pleasant' and 'plump' and typical Lexus smooth and quiet though...

Strange about the RX/Highlander/Pilot/MDX - sales of those vehicles are way down. I expected people to stop buying Expeditions/Explorers - but not the smaller vehicles (of note the Pilot and MDX do not get any mileage awards and this may have something to do with it - however that total did include the NEW Pilot and the MDX was at .9% financing out here). I think people really are moving back towards cars - smaller ones at that.

10%+ in fleet sales was for the previous generation Corolla. The new generation very likely has fleet sales under 10%.

The TSX set a new record for itself after the 2nd month of sale. I dont think 08s sales have much to do with it. Most dealers stopped stocking up on tsx back in January. There are still 08s out there, but they do not make up the majority of the TSX sold. That's like saying the Corolla's record was set because of the 08s on the lot.

What are you basing this on? Did Toyota state they are limiting fleets for this gen corolla? I dont see why Toyota would do this, especially since car rental companies LOVES the corolla. Cheap, reliable, and fuel efficient. If the corolla's price goes up, then we may see a decrease in fleet numbers. Historically, the Corolla's fleet sales has been around 12-15% of the total's sale. I dont see this gen any different. Toyota KNOWS that gas price is a big influence in today's subcompact market. They'd be dumb to slow down on fleet sales.

Toyota Corolla Best-Selling Car in the Country, Sort Of
Sales numbers for June are rolling in, and the list of the top 10 sellers in the country has once again shifted. Last month the Honda Civic took the top spot away from the Ford F-150, and now the Toyota Corolla has taken the No. 1 mantle. Before Toyota can claim the spot, though, we must tell readers that Toyota includes Matrix sales along with that Corolla number because they’re built on the same platform.
We don’t agree with that form of accounting, but Toyota’s Camry came in second, so even without the added Matrix sales it still would have come out on top. The Civic slid to third.
Overall sales were down for Ford, GM, Chrysler and Toyota — yes, Toyota — as people start pinching pennies. Many other automakers saw upticks — most significantly Honda, but Kia, Hyundai and Subaru also saw numbers go up. Hyundai sold more than 50,000 vehicles in a month for the first time ever last month, with the Accent, Sonata and Elantra seeing big increases.
Below is the new top 10.
