i dont know if this is really a preproduction shot so im going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

i mean spy shots are usually taken from the inside...so this is either a leaked image from somebody who works at bmw, or its a fake

My 3-series' interior strikes me as 'sufficient' for its class, but still class-trailing.

I'd say the current interior design for 2008 model entry level lux goes like this:

CTS > G35 > IS > C > TL > A4 > 3

In other words, I think it's worst in class, but it's still not embarrassingly bad. You could look at it from an 'all business' standpoint because, let's be honest, in this class, especially with the 335i... that car isn't about fondling your dash board... it's about driving and having a good time doing it.

But by the time you get to the 7 series it just gets embarrassing! Not only is the 7 series interior worst in class, but that whole class of car is pretty much all about the interior. BMW has no excuse for that class.

Autoblog -

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/0...y-7th/

The crew at the BMWBlog supposedly has the scoop on the next generation BMW 7-series, and in addition to a July 7th reveal date, they've procured a handful of details about BMW's flagship sedan.
Two, twin-turbocharged engines will be available: a V12 and the V8 currently found in the X6, with power being sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed transmission. Four-wheel steering will be an option, along with all-wheel-drive later in its lifecycle. Dynamic Performance Control, ConnectDrive and an improved iDrive interface will form the majority of the technical changes inside and the new 7's interior will supposedly mark the return of the driver-oriented controls of yore, with a center console canted in to face the person behind the wheel. We'll believe it when we see it.

BMW will offer four new colors for the 2009 7-series, including Cashmere Silver, Imperial Blue, Mineral White and Sophisto Grey and BMWBlog's sources say that the V8 model will be sporting a duo of square tailpipes, while the higher-end version will get four squared tips.

The interior is HEAVILY camouflaged I don't see how you can make judgements yet.

The only thing I can tell from the interior picture is the seats, seat belt clip, shifter, NAV/iDrive screen, center vents.
The seats look good, looks like it has good side bolsters and adjustable thigh support.
The seat belt clip looks cheap (looks like it belongs on a 90s Corolla).
The shifter is.. well it's the typical BMW shifter, I'm not a huge fan of the looks but I've never held it in my hand.
The screen is hard to tell since it's not on.
The center vents do look a little cheap but still hard to tell because of everything around it is covered up.

They could have at least photoshopped the side marker on the fender instead of the door hinge...

I wonder if the seat adjustment buttons are in the same stupid place as the current 7?

Fortunately for bimmer, the car isn't about analyzing photos or comparing specs. What makes them worth the money starts when you are in the seat with the wheel in front of you and you turn the key (or press the button). I have to assume that with the return of the buttons that iDrive V2.0 will either not control as much or be able to be defeated - a good thing. I've owned ugly bimmers and some downright gorgeous bimmers (at least to my eye). They all drove better than anything from the competition and, if anything, the ugly ones drove a little better than the gorgeous ones.

But I would probably just have to order the $2K option to get those beautiful paisley stripes! I hope they stay, it will give people more to complain about.

I like how they only used them to cover up the hood lines, body crease along the profile, and trunk lines. They gave almost everything else away (minus interior and head/tail lights)
