Way too many sameness to not be considered a "Corolla" variant, e.g. 5 door hatchback with different body styling.
Perfect! So why not call it a Corolla then?

Let me guess the top ten selling vehicles in the U.S. for this calender year.

1. Toyota Camry
2. Honda Civic
3. Toyota Corolla
4. Honda Accord
5. Ford F-series
6. Chevrolet Silverado
7. Nissan Altima
8. Chevrolet Cobalt
9. Ford Focus
10. Dodge Ram

If BMW brings over 320i and set the price at mid 20s then the total sales for 3-series might get them to the top 20 selling vehicles.

Vibe and Matrix were made at the same GM/Toyota joint plant in CA (Fremont?), not sure if they still are, but probably.

A couple of years ago I was looking at the Vibe at two different dealerships. Both salesmen that I talked to spoke more about the Toyota mechanicals and drivetrain than they did about it being a Pontiac.

I bought a Vibe and it's been a great little car - Bulletproof and good gas mileage.

Oh special - Toyota gets wind of your post and the Vibe sales will now be included with the Corolla totals...

edit: you know, the Vibe is based on the Corolla platform and is basically the same thing as the Matrix.... so following the logic of others on this thread, all Toyota would have to do is put the word Corolla on the owner's manual and it would be eligible to be counted in the Corolla's sales. Yes?

or if Honduh is smart, they would lump Odyssey/Pilot/Ridgeline sales together with the Accord since it is based on the same platform.

Seriously, who cares.....

Maybe Toyota will buy the Pontiac brand if/when GM gets rid of it, and then we'll have the Corolla Matrix, Corolla Vibe and regular Corolla.

Personally I don't care about the sales figures, but what is confusing is why then does Toyota themselves when selling the Matrix try their hardest to separate the two? They never once mentioned Corolla when selling it to my inlaws, the paper work never mentioned anything about Corolla, their website has it listed separately from Corolla. Honestly I realize its basically a Corolla and I don't really care where they put the sales figures, but if they are trying so hard to separate the two cars they should keep them separate. Just like I realize the Canadian Acura EL is the same as a USDM Civic, but they are separate in terms of sales. Same with the Solara. When it was called Camry Solara, it was a Camry. When Toyota decided to drop the Camry name to separate The Solara from the Camry, it should be Separate. All this just makes for a marketing mess and marking spin.

There is a great reason silly - so their sales numbers rock! Have you not been paying attention here?
