My roomate isn't allowed to touch my car anymore. He claims he's had enough time behind the wheel of a standard, but I don't trust him enough. He nearly got us run over on the highway once.

My buddy is overly **** about his car I now know. I never assumed he was until now. He has no wife or kids and he is 30 years old. He is trying to tell me how it works with his car since it is "one-off" type of NSX. It bothers me since he claims I should drive a NSX but he won't let me drive his car. I told him you can have my car if I destroy yours. That didn't seem to help. He has spent a fortune doing odds and ends to it and treats it like a piece of a refined Gold. He actually used the analogy of a stamp collection with his cars. I said this to him, "How am I going to tell my sons that they can't take the comic out and read it since it will devalue the comic? What good is a comic book if you can't read it I say."

This guy also doesn't drive his car very often if at all. It is more of a museum type of car than an automobile. To be honest, I lost some respect for the guy when he went off the deep end about his car.

I love having my friends drive my car and push it to the limit. The only thing I worry about is if I'm not in the car while they're driving it. I would die if they scratched my wheels on a curb, or scratched the bumper or something...

Hahaha, same here. My friends let me push theirs and share the experience so I do the same, with the Lexus and other cars.

I will gladly let any of my friends drive my car, provided they have enough money to buy me a new one. If somebody has absolutely no means of reimbursing me if something were to happen to my car, I wouldn't be comfortable letting them drive it

They don't really ask to. The only time I usually let someone drive my car is when, I have allergies, sleepy, or intoxicated.

Yep. My friends drive my car (the ones that obviously know how to drive a manual). We even switch off for weeks sometimes. But that usually happens when something is wrong with his car or mine (and we dont feel like returning it immediately ). Im comfortable with that. I grew up with them and know how they drive and they all baby there cars like I baby mine. So its never a problem. My old roomie......no way!!! He breaks and smashes everything. No chance in hell.

there are only a few people i'd let drive my car...

my parents both have clean driving styles and clean records to match--they're no problem.

there are however, only a few friends that are allowed to drive my car...(less than a handful)

Word to this

The only other person who has driven my car as is is my father, as his car is lower than mine haha. I wouldn't have a problem letting a friend who also had a kitted/lowered/wheeled car drive it. Driving a modded car is definitely different than driving a stock car, and if you don't have that experience you can seriously mess someone else's car up.
