Default Is the X6 Selling?

Some may like the X6 but I think that it is SO ugly! They would have been much better off designing a nice X7 (full sized SUV) with a hybrid option. Irrespective, is the X6 selling well or will it go the way of the Aztec?

Don't know the numbers but SUV sales in general are slow. I did see a new one where I live just tonight though.

I haven't seen one yet, and So Cal is a car lovers haven, with Ferrari's, Lambo's, Bentley's, and RR everywhere. Just no X6's

They might sell a few at first, but there is no doubt that these things will be a permanent fixture on dealer lots for a few reasons:

1) The entire SUV market is down right now, and there is little demand for anything that gets 12MPG on premium fuel with only 4 seats

2) "SUV"s should have some amount of utility to make up for their size, shape anddismal gas mileage and this one has zero

3) The similar performing, bigger, better looking X5 is less expensive

4) It's hideous

Mark my words...it will die pretty quickly.

It has to die! I like a lot of BMW designs (especially the F01) but this one makes me sick. I can't believe they released something like this.

Putting it at the front of the lots is like having a scare crow sitting out front.

They will sell, the new camry came out and considering that Toyota sold 400k the 1st year it 's still took around 6 months before I really started seeing them, they are probably not flying off the lots but I doubt BMW is gonna do like Ford and GM and just produce way more then they can sell.

The X6 falls into the premium car category like an M3, for every 10 that the dealer gets 2 will actually be bought by people who want and can afford it, tires gas, insurance (true BMW performance nuts), the other 8 will be bought/leased by those who gotta have it, gotta keep up with the neighbors, nothing more then the new hotness

The best part will be the amount of people who get an X6 only to realize the replacement cost of tires, how that is overlooked is beyond me

So the US got 20,000 units, my hat goes off to BMW cause they are smart, keep production low and demand high

The problem with the X6 is not so much its looks as the fact that it debuted just as gas reached record-high prices. One must remember, it was conceived and designed a couple of years ago when gas was between $2 and $3.

I agree. The car has grown on me personally. I think it looks brilliant. But wrong timing.

I saw a white one the other day, and it looks A LOT better in person than in pictures.

I don't know when the X6 came out, but in June 623 were sold and year-to-date Jan-June = 2,010.

I hope the sales goal is not 20k US b/c they only sold 600 or so the first couple of months. I predict this will FAIL badly, too much, too useless, too ugly. Sales will only get WORSE after its first couple of years.
What is AMAZING is this car is 2 to nearly 3 times more expensive than the Acura RDX or Infiniiti EX and it sells only slightly only those 2 much cheaper cars.
X6 sales so far 2008
June 08-623
May 08- 732
April 08- 655

So at this rate they say an avg of 650 units times 12 months = 7800 units

Sounds like BMW is full of crap saying 20k car sold here.

Sorry guys but it has been an overwhelming success. I take delivery of mine on 8-1 and the car is absolutely beautiful in person, and handles like a dream. They are extgemely hard to find and my dealer has a very long waiting list. It is a niche car and bmw never had any intentions of it selling as well as the X5. The 6 series in general is a niche class. For those that are not believers, I suggest that you take one for a test drive. That is of course if you can find one. As previously stated the 2008 model yr is sold out to dealers.
