Where are the efficient small 4-cylinders and diesels? This is a prerequisite if you want to sell cars successfully in Europe. Infiniti will also need a small fun car that competes with the likes of the popular BMW 1 series and Audi A3 - and a large variety of engines to suit different consumers inside this huge niche market.
Considering that gasoline on average costs about € 1.35 per liter in Germany alone, I would think Infiniti will do poorly, epecially with that "powerful lineup". In other countries like The Netherlands and Great Britain, gasoline is significantly more expensive than what the Germans are paying here so I don't think Infiniti will be a smashing success. I also feel that the presented lineup above is going to equal a poor outcome for Infiniti. They need to gain market share and a foothold and this can be done most efficiently with smaller cars and efficient engines. The Europeans view power as a subjective matter. A torquey 4-cylinder diesel engine can be both frugal and "fast" in the eyes of the average European for example. Just an observation on my part.

Their goal is very modest 9k a year but they probably won't meet that.

They are morons. They had 18 years to watch Lexus struggle without diesels and hybrids and should have learned how Lexus failed until they had those offerings. What does Infiniti do? Offer Europe its LARGEST, THIRSTIEST engines. The shared RENAULT diesel doesn't come until 2010 or so.

No doubt Infiniti will sell some cars as there are always people willing to try new products in every market, but if they really wanted to penetrate the European market in a strong fashion they need smaller engines and some cars capable of competing with some of the smaller bestsellers of BMW and Audi.
